Summary

This is a topic that we think you all are going to absolutely LOVE! Today, we are talking about lesson planning. Yup. We said it. Lesson Planning. We want to dive deep into getting your lesson plans done so that you can leave on Friday feeling ready for the next week.  But here is the thing, lesson planning is NOT a to-do. It’s not something you write to write down on your checklist because lesson planning is a project. In this case, it is a recurring project. When we understand that lesson planning is a project then we are more capable of tackling it with a separate process. A process that is unique to project planning.  Now, if you are already asking the question, “Am I able to apply this to any project?” Absolutely! You can! We are using lesson planning as an example for this episode because it is a project that EVERY teacher has on their plate, but you can use these steps for any project no matter if it is a one-time project or recurring project.  7 Steps to Lesson Planning Like a PRO! [6:50] Step #1: Define your End [8:37] Step #2: Set Your Deadline [10:13] Step #3: Brain Dump [14:03] Step #4: Create a List of Materials [15:28] Step #5: Group Related Tasks Together [19:10] Step #6: Find the Time to Batch [20:20] Step #7: Monitor Your Progress [20:58] Review of the Steps CONCLUSION Leaving school at the end of the week knowing that your plans are ready all the way down to the copies is truly life-changing, but it’s not rocket science. In fact, it’s quite simple when you break things down into actionable steps that allow you to see the whole process. Give this a try and be sure to share how it has worked for you! how to lesson plan like a pro. We're going to break down lesson planning so that it becomes more

0:27.7

manageable and you can divide and conquer. But before we move on, Michelle, what has been your

0:34.1

time-sucking hurdle for this week? I know this might surprise you, but it has not been

0:39.1

anything school-related. Instead, I've been in spring cleaning mode, even though it's not spring.

0:44.9

It is still winter, but I've just gotten into it early. I am wanting to purge everything in home.

0:51.4

I'm wanting to clean out my closet. I'm wanting to clean out my basement. I'm wanting to

0:55.0

clean out my end table drawer. Like any little thing, I'm like, I have to go through it and I have to

1:00.5

throw stuff away. And that's fantastic in terms of the cleanliness of my house. But it is not fantastic for

1:07.0

me getting other things done. It's funny because I was actually supposed to be lesson planning

1:11.9

the other day. And I was laying down. I told Trent, I said, I have so much to get done. And I was

1:18.7

like organizing my Google Drive. Thanks to you, Michelle. I just want to say it. You're welcome for that

1:24.0

one. But before we jump too far into this, Bridget and I have some super exciting news.

1:29.1

Such exciting news. I am so happy about this. We are going to be hosting a live event that means

Bridget and I together in person, in the flesh, we are going to be giving you all a full day of top PD.

That means PD focused on time management, organization,

1:47.2

and productivity. This will be happening on Saturday, March 28th at Heritage Hills Resort in York,

1:54.8

Pennsylvania. It's going to start at 9 a.m. and go all the way until 4 p.m. So Bridget,

2:00.4

how about you tell them what all is included?

2:03.1

Well, guys, it's top 80. So it's going to be all about helping you master that productivity.

2:09.8

So we have the day broken down into four different sessions. And we also have a Q and A at the very, very end of it. And you can ask us anything.
