Welcome back to the Michigan Insider on the Big 150 WTKA online at the big 1050.com. I know it is March, and we are now in the midst of March Madness. The Michigan men's basketball team picked up a win last night. They play again tomorrow at 1210 in Buffalo against the nine seed St. Louis. The Michigan women's basketball team is in action. Tonight we've got a second day of action in the men's tournament all day today. The women's tournament really gets underway today. All that great stuff is going on. And we'll get back to basketball in a little bit. But it is also spring football. Michigan now has two spring practices under their belts. Pads are about to really come out. But yesterday, prior to the practice, part of the second practice of the spring, new Michigan defensive coordinator Jay Hill met with the media, so we're going to bring that to you now. So here is Michigan DC Jay Hill from yesterday, meeting with the media now here on the Michigan insider on the Big 1050 WTCA. I can tell you this. Today I thought was a great day. We're heading in the right direction. Love the just the way Coach Witt does things, the discipline,

the toughness, just everything about his programs. It's fun to be back around. So good, good start.

You're starting the right here, Aaron. Jay, Aaron McMahon, the Ann Arbor News on live. Good to meet you,

looking at Arbor. Yeah, great to meet you. You throughout west for so long, what was so appealing

about taking this job is going on here?

Well, the Michigan brand, the Michigan name, being able to recruit in that logo was a big deal to me.

They just won a national championship a couple years ago with one of the best teams in the history of college football.

So just the ability to do that, I thought, was appealing. To do it in the Big Ten stage was

appealing, and to do it with the players that I knew were coming back to this place. So there

were a lot of reasons, you know, Coach Witt and, anyway, there was a lot of good about it.

Early impressions of the personnel you got on the defensive side?

Well, I've been super impressed with our ones so far.

I think we have a really good defensive line.

I like the secondary, especially when we get everybody healthy.

The linebackers are really, really taking a step forward, you know,

because we lose a lot of key guys in that position, So I think they've done a good job of stepping forward. So bottom line, I like the personnel a lot. I think we're heading in the right direction. I'll be able to tell you a lot more about that here in a couple weeks. On the left, Isaiah, a whole Wolverines lawyer, locked on Wolverines, good to meet you.

You said on the In the Trenches podcast that your scheme is maybe the most complicated in the country.

Coach Whittingham also talked about how he wants to be able to make it so players can play fast.

How does those two things kind of marry?

So the better we own it, the more we can do.
