0:00.0 | Hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome to episode three of George Ezra and Friends, the podcast. My name is George Ezra. I am a musician. I am a songwriter. I am a singer. |
0:29.0 | I play a little bit of guitar and I released my first music back in 2014 and have been busy ever since. I've been busy touring the world, meeting people, keeping busy, keeping out of trouble. |
0:42.0 | This week my guest is the lovely Hannah Reid of London Grammar. She is one third of the band with her bandmates Dan and Doc and we talk about all sorts. We talk about touring and recording and past projects, future projects, all that good stuff. |
1:02.0 | There's even a bit of dog chat for any of you dog fans out there. I'd just like to say a huge thank you to Hannah. She came out to my flat. She was one of the first people to get on board and say they'd be up for the show and it was an absolute pleasure. |
1:17.0 | So thank you. I should also just say if you are with kids there might be a bit of fruity language, a couple swears there might be. So just watch out for that. |
1:28.0 | I am definitely waffling. So let's jump into this show. Ladies and gentlemen sit back, relax. This is Hannah Reid. |
1:48.0 | I've got a whole load of questions I want to ask you about everything you're doing. I know that you've just finished eight all? |
1:55.0 | Eight all yes we've got one left. How far off? Three weeks in Europe. So I've got two weeks off now which is heavenly. Thank you for doing this by the way. |
2:07.0 | No no no no it's my pleasure. And then yeah three week tour in Europe and then we're done. Of the record? |
2:15.0 | Yeah we made this this tour slightly shorter than the one that we did on the first album. It was kind of something we discussed and decided to do. |
2:25.0 | How long were you out on the first one for? Was it one of those kind of 18 months? It was two and a half years. |
2:31.0 | It was relentless. By the time I mean we had like a we had a gap in between just before the very last tour because we had had to reschedule a whole bunch of stuff. |
2:42.0 | But so it was it was two years but two and a half years including then the sort of added American tour that we'd had to move. |
2:49.0 | Two and a half years is proper. It was I mean it was amazing. Of course it's the best thing that could ever have happened to us. |
2:59.0 | But yeah we were really young at the time and we got pretty tired at the end and we did have to cancel stuff because I had like muscular sort of damage in my voice and stuff like that. |
3:12.0 | And me and Dan in particular have quite bad stage fright. I'm the worst. Dan blesses me. He's I mean he's much better than me but he has a bit too. |
3:24.0 | And so it got to a point where suddenly it was kind of basically I didn't get on a plane that I was meant to get on. |
3:32.0 | Really? Oh yeah yeah. Oh yeah it's quite it's quite the story. So wait you were supposed to get on a plane? Yeah. I just didn't show up. Yeah. |
3:41.0 | But I had I mean basically for me I mean Paul Dan and Dock what they've had to put up with over the years I just can't even imagine. |
3:48.0 | I've always been quite a nervous sort of introverted person as artists just tend to be I think really or often are anyway. |
3:57.0 | The stage fright got to me low at the beginning because I've never I've never really gotten up in front of lots of people ever really in my life. |
4:08.0 | And then I kind of started to get used to it. I got better and better but the crowds got bigger and bigger and then suddenly I just kind of hit this wall and I suddenly got worse and worse and worse. |
