0:30.8	So let's get after it. After Jesus was born in Bethlehem and Judea during the time of King Herod,
0:35.8	Magi from the East came to Jerusalem and asked,
0:38.7	where's the one who's been born king of the Jews?
0:40.8	We saw his star in the East and we've come to worship him.
0:43.0	All right, again, this is a Christmas story, but we're not going to handle this like a Christmas
0:46.5	story. There's some serious deep water to get into historically to even understand
0:51.6	who on earth this Herod guy is, right?
0:53.4	You imagine that you're reading the Bible straight through and you get to the end of the
0:57.7	Old Testament and you're like, okay, we do this Malachai thing.
1:00.1	Let's see what happens at the end of the Old Testament.
1:02.1	Oh, wow, burning, furnace, see I will send
1:06.0	the Prophet Elijah before the great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their
1:11.5	children and the hearts of the children to their children and the hearts of the children to their
1:13.1	fathers or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.
1:16.2	Okay, so it's more that blessing and curse language.
1:19.2	That last verse also kind of sums up the hope language that we see in the Old Testament.
