| 0:00.0 | Welcome back inside the Inover Studios of the Big 1050 WTKA online at the Big 1050.com. So we are four practices into spring practice for the Michigan football team. Counting down, of course, the 15th and final practice, which is Saturday, April 18th at 2 p.m. at Michigan Stadium, the Mays versus Blue Spring game. And we're getting periodic updates and actually more than just periodic updates from coaches. And actually this week we're also going to hear for some players as well. But yesterday we heard from new offensive coordinator Jason Beck. I know a lot of people wanted to hear what he had to say about how they're going to use Bryce and how things are looking early on. Obviously they're just all they can do is talk right now. We'll see things on April 18th and then really get things rolling and see what this offense will look like in the fall. But they talk about unleashing Bryce and not holding them back and not playing to protect them per se like we've heard coaches talk about in the past. And so I know a lot of people are pretty excited about what Jason Beck had to say. So let's get to that now. Here is new Michigan Offensive Coordinator Jason Beck yesterday |
| 0:54.4 | from yesterday's media availability. Actually last night's media |
| 0:57.4 | availability now here on the Michigan Insider on the Big |

| 1:04.8 | Last two years, different spots you've had the number four |
| 1:07.8 | offense and number two rushing offense. What's allowed you to be able to |
| 1:11.6 | kind of have that portability to move from school to school and still have your production? |
| 1:17.6 | You know, a lot of things go into that. A couple of the main highlight bullet points. It was really good quarterback play. |
| 1:25.6 | Drives a lot of that. |
| 1:28.3 | A staff that the majority of the guys know the system, so we're able to kind of come in and really get rolling, |
| 1:35.3 | installing it and teaching it fast, which was able to do here as well. |
| 1:42.3 | And then our whole thing is just to try to build it around the player's |
| 1:46.0 | strengths. So we really want to find the strengths of the offense and build it around them to let them |
| 1:51.4 | play at their best when game day hits. Stay on the left there, Anthony. Kind of a unique |
| 1:58.7 | scenario for JJ Buchanan where he's the one guy who's, |
| 2:01.7 | it's his second year in this system now. I guess what allowed him to break out as a true freshman with you guys last year? What's that next step for him? Yeah, you know, and he came in the summertime as a true freshman, so we didn't have spring ball with him. He just showed up in the summer. Early on in fall camp, you know, within that first week, he just made some big contested |
| 2:22.7 | catches. |
| 2:23.8 | And you just saw him do it and you go, all right, let's give him more opportunities and more |
| 2:28.7 | opportunities. |
| 2:29.4 | And he just kept going. |
| 2:31.3 | So sure enough, game one, UCLA, he started. |
| 2:33.9 | First snap, he's starting and played. |
