Welcome back inside the Ann Arbor Studios of the Big 1050 WTCA online at the Big 1050.com. The Michigan men's basketball team beats Howard in the opening round of the NCAA men's basketball tournament last night, 101.80. They advanced to round two. They will play St. Louis, obviously, after the game when the media met with the players and Dusty. They did not know who their second round opponent was going to be, at least not as of yet.

But we did hear after the game from Marez Johnson Jr. Roddy Gale and head coach Dusty Mayas.

So let's hear what they had to say after the game. Now here on the Michigan Insider on the Big 1050 WTCA.

What to begin by congratulating Howard on a fantastic season. Sometimes when you scout an opponent, it's not easy on the

eyes, but watching those guys, they're well coached, they play well together. They have great

passion and life and spirit to them. And obviously, that's a tribute to their university, to

their athletic department, and everyone that they represent. So what a great story, but happy with our guys.

We stayed the course.

We thought we took a haymaker from them in the first half,

and our guys never played scared.

They never played tight.

They just continued to get to the next possession

and found a way to separate in the second half.

Coach just talked about the haymaker that you guys took and he didn't get flustered.

What was that like and what was that and what and how important was it to do that in an opening

round game to set you up moving forward?

It's very important for us not to get too hard or too low in a game like this.

You know, every team going to make their runs.
